(2011) Harry farmed, was a carpenter, sold insurance, and drove a Randolph County school bus for 17 years. He also did carpenter work. Erma cooked at the Randolph County High School for 15 years. She was a member of Mace United Methodist Church. Harry and Erma retired together in 1976. Erma [S032] was one of my major sources of information about the Wood family in West Virginia.

Erma took pride in one of her last achievements, persuading the Veteran's Administration to place a headstone on Tommie E. Wood's grave in the Mingo cemetery (Fig. R261b).
