Houston worked as a logger at Evenwood W.Va., and Flossie cooked at the logging camp. Their first three children (Fig. R273a) were born there. Subsequently they ran a restaurant and a theater in Elkins. After that Houston worked as a coal miner in Norton W.Va., then as a carpenter. After Flossie’s death he moved to Wilmington Del., where he worked as a carpenter for the rest of his life.
Geneva married Walter Smith from Columbus Ohio. They had three children and live in Minneapolis Minn. The family has lost contact with them.
Ray worked as a mining engineer for Bethlehem Steel, and for the W.Va. Highway Department; he served for four years in WWII. He married Flora Swecker of Valley Head WV in 1937; she ran a beauty salon and worked for an insurance company in Elkins, died in 1987. they had no children. Ray’s second wife was Susan (White) Kelley of Elkins, a widow. They live in Elkins, and have no children.
Montgomery also served four year in WWII. After the war he moved with his father to Wilmington Del., where he owned several garages. He married Anna Medows in Wilmington; they had four children. He died and was buried in Wilmington.
Leona married Herbert Swecker from Valley Head W.Va. in 9/1937. Herbert worked 30 years in the coal mines, and he and Leona ran a store and a farm in Hodgeville (Upshur County) W.Va. They had one daughter. Herbert died in 1986 and is buried in Philippi W.Va.
Colleen married Rex Reed at Barrackville W.Va. Rex worked 30 years at the Bethlehem Steel coal mines, Colleen worked as long in the Sheriff’s office at Fairmont W.Va. Both are retired. They have three boys, still live in Barrackville (Marion County).
Woodrow served in the Air Force for 37 years, is now retired. He married Darlene __ in Layton, Utah; they have two daughters.
