(1996) Thomas M. Moore, together with his brother Samuel A. Moore [see R354] and his cousin James A. Moore [R375] enlisted on 4/30/1863 as Privates in Company I of the 19th Virginia Cavalry. The National Archives records [S088] say little about their Civil War careers. They were paroled in Charleston WV 5/11/1865. His parole slip describes Thomas as age 30, height 5’ 8”, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, light whiskers.

The 1870 census shows Thomas, 35, and his family living on property adjacent to that of his father, John W. Moore.
